PROGNOSIS OF PREGNANCY COMPLICATED BY OVARIAN CANCER

Background: Pregnancy complicated by ovarian cancer presents relationship between controlled growth in pregnancy and uncontrolled growth in cancer. The management of pregnancy illustrate conflict between optimal maternal therapy and fetal life. Even the incidence is low but it occurs in women of reproductive age. It is important to identify associated factors for better prognosis of pregnancy.

Objectives: The aim of this study is analysis factors affecting and measure the prognosis of pregnancy complicated by ovarian cancer.

Methods: This is descriptive analytic study with cohort retrospective design using medical records of pregnancy patient complicated by ovarian cancer underwent treatment at dr. Sardjito Hospital Yogyakarta on 2010, January till 2017, December.  Fisher Exact test was used for bivariate analysis. Logistic regression was used for multivariate analysis. All statistical analysis were done by statistic software for computer.

Results: There were 18 research subjek had been undergone treatment at dr. Sardjito Hospital for 8 years. The management type factor associated with the prognosis of pregancy statitistically significant (p=0.02). Gestational age at the cancer diagnosis and histopathology type were not significant statistically but significant clinically associated with the prognosis of pregnancy (p=0.18; IK 95% 0.4-104.2; OR 6.5) and (p=0.29; IK 95% 0.36-30.12; OR 3.28).

Conclusion: Best choice of management factor improve the prognosis of pregnancy complicated by ovarian cancer statistically and clinically but gestational age at the cancer diagnosis and histopathology type improve the prognosis of pregnancy complicated by ovarian cancer clinically.
