COMPARATIVE RISK OF POSTPARTUM DEPRESSION IN VAGINAL
DELIVERY AND CAESAREAN SECTION

ABSTRACT
Background: Pregnancy it self is a stressor for a woman ‘s life (Cuningham et al., 2010). Postpartumdepression is the most frequent complication in about 10-20 % of postpartum mothers. These events affect parenting behavior (parenting), the child ‘s behavior, and the child’s progress. Childbirth with cesarean section has some psychological consequences, such as postpartum depression (Cuningham et al., 2010).
Objectives: To find out how high the proportion of the risk of postpartum depression at compared with vaginaleous delivery and Caesarean section.
Methods: Cross sectional in patients vaginaleous labor compared with cesarean section on the incidence of postpartum depression . This research
was conducted by taking the primary data from patients with a postpartum
EPDS questionnaire 10 questions worth and efficiently to identify patients at risk of postpartum depression, and then given a questionnaire to be answered by the patient without consideration of postpartum day 14-21 , then was calculated by univariate analysis,bivariate and multivariate. .
Result: During the study subjects experienced gained as much as 29.6 % of postpartum depression and postpartum depression as much as 70.4 % . This study showed no difference in the proportion of postpartum depression among groups of cesarean section and vaginaleous delivery groups.
Conclusion: Mode of delivery between vaginaleous delivery and caesarean section did not increase the occurrence of postpartum depression Keywords: postpartum depresetion, mode of delivery, seksio saesarean and
